A Miami Herald investigation recently uncovered evidence that Florida allowed more than 10,000 people with criminal histories to work in the mortgage industry from 2000 to 2007. In response, Gov. Charlie Crist and the state Cabinet are looking at emergency rules that would bar individuals convicted of certain crimes from employment in the mortgage industry.
